Reopening Plan — COVID19

Hello Beautiful Guests!

We are missing you, our people! We want to let you know right here all that we are doing to prepare for reopening the salon and a little backstory of what has been going on with The Harbor.

The week leading up to March 19th, cancelations were accelerating out of caution from guests and stylists were volunteering to stay home as we learned how to flatten the curve. We never could have imagined the way the weeks ahead of us would unfold. On March 19th, we closed the blinds on our beautifully lit salon to adhere to our safer at home orders. When given the time frame of four weeks for closure, we shifted from our daily salon operations to working remotely on rescheduling appointments, ordering all of the barbicide (hospital grade cleaning solution), toilet paper and hand sanitizer that we could get our hands on.

With the safer at home order being extended twice, our emotions have been all over the place, going through a collective grievance as a city, nation, and world. There is such sorrow for being distanced from you and our loved ones but we are believing that the purpose is much greater than the temporary circumstances.

You’ve heard us say this before, we are all about YOU and your hair so as we look forward to getting our reopening date, we’re preparing now to be ready for your next appointment! We’ve created a plan and prayerfully considered how to keep our beloved people safe upon reopening both our stylists and our clients.

Your next appointment is a high priority for us. This is why we made the decision to close our online booking and cancel all future appointments. This is to make sure you, our loyal and dear guests, do not have to fret about scheduling yourself on the day we learn the salons in LA can reopen. We want to take care of you best with attention to detail, this is how we’re going to accomplish it;

Our scheduling method for reopening is to contact all clients personally in a systematic order. For clients who had appointments on the books from the time of our closure, we have all of your information on hand, what you had booked and the date of your original appointment. When we have a definitive reopen date, our support staff is ready to fire at all cylinders contacting you to  schedule your appointment. We will consult with you about any changes that need to be made because of regrowth, even if you are thinking about going in a totally different direction with your hair, we are here to help!

If you did not have an appointment scheduled, we have a system for you too! A booking list has temporarily replaced our online booking system. This is available to all of our clients if you want to get an appointment and you didn’t have one already scheduled. Think of this as a waitlist where we will be reaching out to you about your hair needs and scheduling your appointment together.

Now above all else, your safety! We have carefully studied salons in other states who have been cleared for reopening and have received guidance from online resources from the leaders in our industry. We’re glad to share with you that our stylists are recertifying their barbicide training that is COVID19 specific and we are providing sanitation systems for our stylist to maintain safety for each guest in our salon.

Your salon experience, as much as we love what it was, it will look different for us to protect our time together. Here are some of the changes we're making to do this; Our stations will be at half capacity leaving one vacant station in between each guest. There will be specific attention given to sanitizing including all the tools used during your service and the client surfaces. This will require our appointments to flow at a slower pace allowing the time for these safety details to happen in real time. For our capacity, only the clients who are scheduled with an appointment will be allowed in the salon. Clients will be notified when they are welcome to come in for their appointment after the proper disinfecting has been completed.

We are confident in what we have in place so far and we are being diligent in learning about new processes all the time.

Before your appointment, please read all email communication and text communication from us. We will be enforcing the rules given by the government and it will require us to work together!

Thank you for taking the time to read through this first installment of what we are planning and how we are thinking of you in our every day work now, even when we don’t get to see you.

We would love to hear from you about questions you have, or any concerns you would have about coming to the salon!
